WATER ACTIVITY (Aw)
Food stability and shelf-life
The AW is an important measurement to maintain the chemical stability of foods, the microbiological stability of personal care products, to improve the shelf-life of a product, to predict which microorganisms will be sources of spoilage.
For example, most of the bacteria do not grow at water activities below
0.91 and molds which are the most tolerant of low water conditions grow in the range of 0.61 - 0.94.
This parameter helps in controlling the non-enzymatic reactions too.
Dewpoint by cooling and heating mirror
Leak-proof measurement chamber
The unique design of the eFAst-Lab sensor can create
a leak-proof measurement chamber. A "pop" each time you open the head confirms this.
Volume ratio of air to product
The volume inside the eFAst-Lab head is very small
To obtain this the sample, the sensor and the chamber are kept at the same temperature in the eFAst-Lab
The instrument can work at the same temperature using Peltier effect
The instrument determines automatically the equilibrium time
All the instruments need to be calibrated from time to time due to electronic derivation . Often this procedure is long and requires some knowledge. This is why GBX Scientific LTD has developed the first instrument to include the auto-calibration feature in 1 and 2 points without the need to tell to the instrument the value of the salt.
Dirty mirror info.
When using mirror technology, the mirror may become dirty due to contamination of products used. If when this happens you don't get the Dirty Mirror Info, you might obtain completely wrong measurements. GBX has developed a way to inform the user if the mirror needs to be cleaned. This can be done very easily in only 3 minutes.

Your data are important for us.
So we are offering to save up to 30 years of data with 100 measurements/day
Thanks to our advanced technology, in case of issue with the electronic, the data are protected and can be retreive easily.
You can organise, too, to export automatically your data to *.csv format
the instrument can be temperature controlled between 20°C and 25°C or between 4°C and 45°C with regulation at +/- 0.01°C or better
The technology of the sensor is not so much sensible to the external temperature. So for many applications, it is not so useful to measure at the same temperature
accuracy of the measure +/- 0.003 from 0.0300 to 1.0000 of Aw
Resolution : 0.0001
Thanks to a newly redesigned sensor, the response time is achieved in 2 to 5 min without the need to extrapolate the results. So the measure remains a true measure
Nowadays, serial output is a very old technology used to communicate with PC. The scientist must get a fast and easy way to communicate with this kind of instrument.
No need to select or search for Port Com when you connect a serial connector to your PC. Just insert the ethernet cabe in your PC
The eFAst-Lab has been developed with sale kind of software used in your smartphone and tablet. Offering capability to control and/or read the values direct from your smartphone or tablet.
As it is a truly communicant you can easily create a cluster of eFAst-Lab installed all over the world to survey many instruments with one software.
We have developed other intreresting capabilities....
We are not using old technology as converter Serial - Ethernet.
The sensor is based on cooled mirror technology. So it doesn't need to be regenerated every 6 months and often recalibrated.
Our instrument is so sensible that you don't need to use any electronic system ( RFID, NFC...) to give the answer to the instrument about the value to be found . Put any salts and it will be able to calibrate. So no knowledge, you can manufacture and use your own salts,
Because our technology is powerful, no need to save many procedures inside of the instrument to be able to display a measurement in 5 minutes. So we can work easily and quickly even with unknown samples or modified samples (R&D)
Left side is instrument view - Right side is PC view
This water activity meter can be supplied with a CFR 21 Part 11 software .
